Eric Roddy comes to pickleball after a long tennis career as both a player and coach. He played collegiate tennis at Sewanee: The University of the South, where he was a division III All-American. He went on to become the men’s head tennis coach at Swarthmore College, as well as an assistant coach for the women’s tennis team at the University of Georgia while he worked towards his MBA. It was also Athens where Roddy discovered pickleball for the first time and decided to play it more often when he moved to Charlotte, NC in 2022.
Away from the pickleball court, Roddy has had some unique life experiences. He lived in A Coruña, Spain for a year where he taught English, and his time in the country helped him to achieve fluency in Spanish. He has also worked in sports media, most notably serving as the former editor of CBS Sports’ Dolphins Report and a reporter for Pro Football Network.
