Background & Career

Mota Alhouni was born and raised in Tripoli, Libya and moved to the United States at the age of 17 with his brother, Mohaned. He started playing tennis at 7 years old and moved to the US to continue his education and tennis competition. Alhouni competed at the Australian Open Juniors and played ITF’s growing up and was eventually recruited to play at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. He played number 1 singles and 1 doubles there and graduated a 3-time All-American. He then taught tennis at Lifetime Fitness for a year before taking on the corporate world.

At the beginning of 2023, Alhouni saw people playing pickleball, and one of his friends and brother asked him to play with them a few times. After a few times playing, Alhouni got hooked. Alhouni has an innate competitive mentality. Pickleball gave him a reason to escape tennis retirement and start competing again at a high level with great players. In February 2023, Alhouni entered his first tournament at the Lakeville PPA event in Minnesota, winning the 5.0 division. By March, he started traveling more and playing more tournaments and now is ranked amongst the world’s top players. Alhouni’s goal is to be one of the top 5 players in the world. Alhouni’s message to his fans is, “Will see you on the court! ALLEZ!!”
